Kat Kelly – This edition of Periodic Coolness is brought to you by a hot wing bender that I have been on lately. No seriously, I didn’t eat wings. For most of my life I never ate wings. Ever. But, something has happened as of late and wings have rocketed to the top of my list of “to-eats.” Today I even learned quite a lesson: when you order medium and ask for it to be super saucy and wet that is like ordering super-hot. Ouch. My face.
Anyway, but enough about wings, we’ve been up to a few things in the casa de Vexteo. Most recently we rented some chickens and tried our hands at backyard chickening. It might sound a little nutty to rent chickens, but we were getting ready to predator-proof our entire yard before we admitted to ourselves that two adults, two babies under one, a dog, three cats, a job, and two startup businesses might just be enough for now. But, we have an idea of what it takes now, so feel free to ask us.
Just typing that out made me think of this Dido diddy, “White Flag.” Yes, I waved it over our three little chickadees.
Since I was talking about the furmily, I should probably mention that one of the things we really love consistently are these Poop Bags. Ok, maybe “love” is a strong word. But they are quite lovely, more eco-friendly than their competitors, and would you think less of me if I told you they smelled nice?
Another really cool thing that just came down is that our friends at Groundfloor, a micro-lending organization for the housing industry, is expanding across a number of states nationally. Participating in the Groundfloor investing community is an amazing way to feel like you are helping in a really grassroots kind of way.
Speaking of investing, last but not least for this edition of Periodic Coolness, we caved and contributed to the Opal Ice-Maker Indigogo campaign. If you have not seen it, you’re going to go nuts over this thing. Seriously.
That’s about it for now. I just realized that I talked about hot wings and raising backyard chickens in the same piece. That’s not right. Or is it? Until next time….

Kat Kelly started this thing and really loves chicken wings. Although she kinda wants to be a vegetarian.
