Kat Kelly – In a testament to the concept of just putting one foot in front of the other, this is a piece I found while cleaning up one of my computers. My sweet baby girl is six years old now and she also has a little brother. It’s true – just keep moving, never stop dreaming, and don’t fear the stories inside of you…

Flashback to 2014:

In my own life I live amidst chaos from time to time. Yes, I am a jokester; always trying to make people laugh. I’ve been told on more than one occasion that I should be a stand up comedian. Eh, I’m not that funny and emotionally I admit, I can be messy. But, we all are.

We have seen darkness surround amazing comedians like Robin Williams. He was one of the funniest people the world has ever seen, but yet he could not shake his dark demons. One of the things we can all take away from Robin’s loss in 2014 is that the things we struggle with may be different, but we all struggle.

Too often the Hollywood portrayal of glamorous, glorious lives weigh on us, giving us something that we are all striving for. Deep down, we all know that those portrayals are completely mediated. But on the surface we hold them up as a society as pinnacles of where we should be in life. Our individual (yes, I’m obsessed) and collective obsession with social media perpetuates these flawed messages.

This is one of the key reasons for the development of Vexteo. My goal was to create a place where there would be less judgement, a place where we would be encouraged to share our stories and to learn from one another – celebrities or not. The goal is to help change the playing field a bit. Some of us have had these stories stuck inside of us since childhood. Some of these stories pop up as we go; just like this one is.

I started this post to write about waiting for the birth of my first child. But, you can see that it is taking a bit of a turn. That is one of the messages that we hope to convey. Twists and turns are ok. Do you know what you are aiming for or are you floating right now? There is no wrong answer.

So, I will write a billion posts about my sweet little baby girl. I cannot wait to meet her and share our journey with you. In the meantime, I just wanted to share that those twists and turns are exactly what this platform is about.

Take the risk. Make those videos. Write that piece about what is running through your head. Join us on this journey. Whether you share it here, on your own blog, in a book, painting, or more… let it out. Set your stories free and learn to be ok with where you have been, where you are now, and where you are going.

Kat Kelly founded Vexteo to remind herself and you to keep on believing. Always. If you want to share, you can always feel free at stories@vexteo.com .
